In Memoriam: James Earl Jones and Frankie Beverly

Today, we honor the legacies of two remarkable individuals who have left a mark on our hearts and culture: James Earl Jones and Frankie Beverly.

James Earl Jones, with his iconic voice, brought to life countless characters, most notably Mufasa in “The Lion King.” His deep, resonant tones conveyed wisdom, strength, and compassion, inspiring generations. And we will always here “This Is CNN.”

Frankie Beverly, the soulful front man of Maze, gave us timeless music that made us dance, sing, and feel deeply. Songs like “Morning After” became one of my favorites. My sister, the biggest fan couldn’t figure out how I had heard it and she hadn’t. Frankie’s music became an anthem of joy and pain, uniting people across generations and backgrounds. His music was a source of hope and unity.

Together, they encouraged a generation through their unique gifts. Frankie’s music made people dance and sing. James Earl Jones voice made you stand tall.

Thank you, James Earl Jones and Frankie Beverly, for the voice, music, and hope. Your legacies will live on forever. “Now you both can enjoy The Golden Time of Day.”
